After being accused of spying for Napoleon, David Robinson, his wife and children are sent to an Australian penal colony. During a storm they are blown off course and end up on a tropical island near New Guinea. They soon find fresh water and believe they will soon be rescued. As time goes by the Robinson's accept their fate as they learn to conquer the elements. When pirates visit the island they find their home under siege and their future unpredictable...
